We've started this blog to journal our journey for the newest addition to our chaotic but happy family. We can't wait to head back to China and meet our newest addition, whoever he/she is!

- CCAA - Chinese Center for Adoption Affairs
- UCIS - US Immigration
- DTC - Dossier to China
- LID - Log in date
- SWI - Social Welfare Institute (orphanage)
- WC - Waiting Child
- SN - Special needs
- CL/CP - Cleft lip/Cleft palate
- LOA/RA - Letter of Acceptance/Referral Acceptance
- TA - Travel approval
- CA - Consulate appointment
Adoption Timeline
*November 15, 2006 - submitted application for adoption to AWAA
*November 27, 2006- application approved and agreement submitted
*November, 2006 - begin collecting all necessary paperwork for homestudy and dossier
*December 15, 2006 - Health Dept review
*December 19, 2006-go to CJIS for MD/FBI fingerprints -got them back in a week!
*December 26, 2006 - physical for Melissa
*January 2, 2007 - Homestudy Orientation at AWAA and Ken's physical
*January 3, 2007- TB tests for everyone!
*January 9, 2007 -Fire Marshall visits
*January 2007 - submit application for
AWAA's Waiting Child program and are approved
*January 23, 2007 - I600A submitted
*January 24, 2007- 2nd homestudy visit
*January 26, 2007 - mailed entire dossier (minus homestudy and 171) to State Dept and Chinese Embassy for authentication
*February 12, 2007 - 3rd homestudy visit
*February 15, 2007 - last homestudy visit at AWAA
*February 23, 2007 - documents returned authenticated from Chinese Embassy
*March 9, 2007 - Homestudy sent to USCIS
*March 10, 2007 - Fingerprints done at USCIS for 171
*March 16, 2007 - Homestudy returns authenticated from Richmond
*March 30, 2007 - Homestudy RESENT to USCIS since it is lost somewhere in the building....
*April 3, 2007 -We got the call - we have a little boy!!
*April 7, 2007 - We have our 171!!!!
*April 9, 2007 - Authentication of 171 at the County and State
*April 10, 2007 - Authentication at the State Dept and Chinese Visa Office - WE ARE DONE WITH OUR DOSSIER!!
Also turn in our LOI information for Caleb - The paperchase is done!
*April 11, 2007 - Our LOI (letter of intent) is sent to China!
*April 13, 2007 - Our dossier is on its way to China!!!! We are dtc!
*April 15, 2007 - our dossier arrives at CCAA
*April 19, 2007 - we are officially logged in! This is the count down day
*May 31, 2007 - we have PA!
*September 5, 2007 - WE HAVE AN LOA!!!Day 140
*October 1, 2007 - TA!!!
*October 24-November 9, 2007 -Travel to China!
*October 29, 2007 - Gotcha Day for Caleb :)
